Anxiety is a normal, and often healthy emotion. However, if you feel extremely anxious lots of the time, or when your feelings of anxiety are disproportionate to whatever triggered them, it can become a mental health disorder such as Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD).
Symptoms of anxiety can include:
- feelings of restlessness, or being “on-edge”
- uncontrollable worry
- increased irritability
- difficulty concentrating
- difficulty sleeping/ waking up regularly at night
- physical symptoms – increased blood pressure & nausea
How can our sessions help?
We begin by demystifying the neuroscience behind anxiety, supporting you to gain an understanding why is happening in your brain when you are feeling anxious. We then work through various solution focused techniques to support you in shifting focus away from any triggers you may have for anxiety and towards the strengths and resources you have to effectively manage anxiety and stress. Finally, we can use evidence-based meditative techniques to support you in developing a personalised toolkit that works for you so that you can maintain a low level of anxiety into the future.
