Neuro-affirming solution-focused therapy
Nurturing hope, exploring strength, building solutions
– Why Solution Focused? –
Solution Focused Therapy understands that what you bring to the table – your strengths, resources, skills and creativity, are the best tools you have to get yourself where you want to go. Neurodivergence brings with it many challenges but also many strengths. As an autism specialist, psychologist, and passionate believer in the solution focused approach, my role is to support you in exploring, understanding and drawing on your strengths and resources to manage the challenges life throws your way.
– 1:2:1 coaching & therapy –
Is there something you are struggling with? Is anxiety and stress getting in the way of you living your life how you want to live it? Are low days causing you to withdraw from the world and things that you used to enjoy? Do you like the idea of an approach that explores your strengths and how these might help, rather than magnifying your difficulties and telling you what to do?
Finding the therapy and therapist that works for you is really important. Feel free to email hello@issymartin.co.uk with any questions you have or to book a no cost, no obligation phone call, to help you decide if this is the right approach for you.
– Neuro-affirming support for young people and families
School, college, friendships, transitions; mental health difficulties including social anxiety, stress, intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviour; these are some of the many challenges that neurodivergent young people can struggle with. I have extensive experience working with neurodivergent children and young people, and their families in NHS CAMHS and in the third sector, and am passionate about supporting young people to explore, understand and build on their own strengths to thrive.
– A little about me –
I am a BPS registered clinical associate psychologist and registered, accredited Solution Focused Therapist, based in central Bristol, UK, and working online with clients across the UK.
I work in private practice and have worked with mental health charities in Bristol and across the UK, supporting clients, training volunteers in the Solution Focused approach and writing a blog on how to apply solution focused techniques. I have worked for several years in the NHS, using an integrated approach including CBT, ACT, person-centred therapy and solution focused therapy to support children and families. I currently work as an Autism & Advocacy Support specialist with Bath based organisation, Now Next & Then, supporting neurodivergent children and families in understanding and managing autism and associated mental health, social and educational challenges.
Private clients I work with hail from all walks of life, from professionals to children, neurodivergent adults and children struggling with high levels of anxiety, panic attacks, depression, low confidence & self esteem, unwanted habits, autistic burnout, anger and emotional regulation challenges.
In our sessions together, in addition to solution focused talking therapy, we also draw on Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, guided meditative techniques and neuroscience to support positive change.

I would highly recommend Issy Martin. She has helped me enormously to get a handle on some long-term anxieties I had.
She created a safe, relaxed but stimulating space in which I could work through the changes I wanted to make, and in which I could literally ‘work out’ my mind in every way
The relaxation is like a reset button, whilst deeply relaxing, it left me feeling energised and like no issue is insurmountable.
